Letters of Enchantment Series by Rebecca Ross

I was so luck that I finished reading Divine Rivals right before Ruthless Vows was released. I don't think I could have waited several months (or weeks) after that cliffhanger. Iris and Roman were an absolute delight. Their dynamic brought me back to my Anne of Green Gables days...and the dynamic between Anne and Gilbert. Two very intelligent equals with a great dynamic. I enjoyed every interactions...in person and on paper.
I have to say that I was not expecting the fantastical elements to the world that Iris and Roman lived in. I knew there would be a love story and I was anticipating it to unfold in a more historical fiction kind of way...with maybe one odd little cupboard that magically delivers letters. I didn't anticipate gods rising from sleep and influencing mortals to fight for them...magical shops, monsters, people being raised from the dead to take part in a vicious war, etc. And the great part about these books is that all of these fantastical elements came together to make the love story that much more impactful. They became an integral part of Iris and Roman's story and it all unfolded beautifully and came to a very satisfying close in Ruthless Vows.
I fully acknowledge that I am a generous reviewer...partly because I don't force myself to read books I don't like. However, I cannot rate this duology less than 5 stars. I fully anticipate re-reading this series often in the future...it is 100% comfort read material. It is simply a delightful read.

The Rise of the Cinder Fae by Whitney Dean

This book was such a treat. It was just hysterical. And the banter? OH THE BANTER! It was just delicious.

When it comes to humor, good banter, tension and (a touch of) angst…this book delivers. I found myself chuckling out loud reading some of Elora and Finn’s interactions with one another. Throw in plot twists, decent world building, and the best ensemble of secondary characters… and I was hooked.

This is my first time reading Whitney Dean but it will not be my last. I very much recommend if you enjoy a good laugh (super recommend if you’re also into pumpkins and fairytale retellings).

All Systems Red by Martha Wells

I did not expect this series to be SO FUNNY. It was also so smart...and I love smart books that keep me engaged. I went into this series thinking I would check out All Systems Red to see what the fuss was about…and then call it a day. I’m on book 5 now and I freaking love the Murderbot Diaries. I'm generally not into robots or cyborgs…but an antisocial security bot that just wants to be left alone to catch up on its shows? A THOUSAND TIMES YES.
